So long TomansTome, Hello Redeeming Family!

For the last 9 years, TomansTome has been our web-based launching pad as a family for sharing what we have learned following Christ. Today, we share that there is a new website where we will continue and expand what we've done at TomansTome. The new website is called RedeemingFamily.com.

During our time using TomansTome, we've participated in many different ministry opportunities in various communities, both face-to-face, and online. TomansTome has always been a place we come back to, and provide updates, and new life lessons we've learned. The time has come for us to move beyond TomansTome into something new. 

Over the course of the last 9 years, this little blog has accumulated more than 61,000 views and we've written more than 300 posts. Not only have we (Jacob and Amy) written using this space, but we've also been blessed to have friends and ministry partners write and share here at Tomanstome. 

While blogger (the website hosting TomansTome) has been a wonderful platform to host written content, it's come with several limitations that are now a bit too constraining for sharing what we're learning. Some of the things we've wanted to do are listed below: 

• Host a dedicated web location for resource suggestions on living out the Christian faith. 
• Provide a multi-lane host location for multiple avenues of news, discussion, and studies. 
• Open a digital one-stop-shop hosting all our original writing.

Blogger simply isn't the best tool to accomplish these things. To continue to use blogger at this point, would be akin to saying "we have several home projects we'd like to do, but we're limiting ourselves to only one single hammer as the tool for all the work". One tool is not enough to rework a home. Screwdrivers (flathead and crosshead), drills, measuring tapes, nails, saws, and more would be needed to rework a home. So for us, while we really have loved using this hammer (blogger), it's time to use some more tools for the work. 

Amy has been diligently building a new website to be able to accomplish the following goals:

• Host recommended resources that we and others have found helpful in their Christian lives.
• Provide an outlet for sharing multiple sources of news, discussions, and studies. 
• Open a digital one-stop shop that allows for free and purchasable downloads and physical goods. 

As of today, Redeemingfamily.com is live. 

At Redeemingfamily.com you can find a few things - 

1. We seek to live out Paul's Doxology regarding God in Romans 11:36 "For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen." Our worldview and perspective are informed by the truth that God is sovereign (large and in charge). This means that all aspects of life are to be shaped by God's Word. 
1. We aim to encourage believers to live out their faith in every avenue of life. 
2. We aim to equip believers with resources to bolster that faith in Christ. 
3. We aim to engage with the topics, questions, challenges, and opportunities that arise in following Christ.
2. Regular updates with discussions from "Around the Web". These discussions are typically written by various publically professing Christian authors around the world. The kingdom of God is huge! That means tons of people are growing in their faith and sharing how the Lord is shaping them. Redeemingfamily shares and redirects you to some of these authors' stories and discussions. 
3. "Church News" from around the world. Since the kingdom is so big, there are many challenges, changes, and opportunities for Christ's people around the globe. Some news outlets exist with a "volume over value" approach. At Redeemingfamily, we want to share pieces of news that will broaden and further educate readers to the vast array of work the people of God are involved in. Sometimes that will mean specific news about one particular church or denomination, and sometimes it may mean much broader news about whole regional efforts from multiple churches. 
4. Redeeming Family Originals (RF Originals) writings, studies, and lessons. Since 2009 as a family we've had opportunities to engage in evangelism (pointing the lost to Jesus), apologetics (defending the Christian faith) church revitalization (serving churches seeking to grow), teaching (If it's in the Bible, we've had a chance to teach about it) and preaching (Over 1,000 sermons preached). Through RF Originals, we share stories, biblical studies, and life lessons as a family of historically creedal, confessional, reformed protestants. 
5. A store hosting Redeeming Family related products. Many of the items are creatively designed products by our family (Yes, even the kids share their ideas for designs). Some of our written materials are available for download for free, while other materials are available for purchase. 
6. Recommendations of Resources that we have found helpful, inspiring, convicting, and formative in our own lives as followers of Christ. These resources include:

We will continue to strive to improve how we communicate what we are learning and experiencing over at RedeemingFamily.com.
