A comparative reading of Genesis 1:3-5 in Hebrew and English

Today we take a look at Genesis 1:3-5 in Hebrew and English and see a few takeaways from God's creation and separation of light from the darkness as the first day in creation.

From the Hebrew Masoretic text

Genesis 1:3 וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים יְהִי אוֹר וַיְהִי־אוֹר

Genesis 1:4 וַיַּרְא אֱלֹהִים אֶת־הָאוֹר כִּי־טוֹב וַיַּבְדֵּל אֱלֹהִים בֵּין הָאוֹר וּבֵין הַחֹשֶׁ

Genesis 1:5 וַיִּקְרָא אֱלֹהִים לָאוֹר יוֹם וְלַחֹשֶׁ קָרָא לָיְלָה וַיְהִי־עֶרֶב וַיְהִי־בֹקֶר יוֹם אֶחָד פ
