Living without Tantrums

Introducing a new series called "Living Without". Join us as we explore our life without certain things.

Living without tantrums is something I never saw myself saying. We have 4 living children ages 8 all the way to 1 in utero. I never foresaw a time when there would be a day without tantrums. It is expected that someone, sometime throughout the day will have a meltdown. It's a normal part of our life. Sometimes it's a child and sometimes it's a parent, but today we had a day without tantrums!

The day started with the new Sunday normal of waking up and preparing for online worship. Except my husband remembered that although our county churches weren't open that the state was open. Saturday night we had asked a few friends if their church was open. Praise be to God we could finally participate in corporate worship face to face!!  We quickly woke up the kids and got ready to leave the house. We packed snacks and toys and were mentally prepared for a long day with lots of tantrums.

Our kids haven't been in church for 10 weeks. 10 weeks without corporately worshiping face to face, without being around other people, without leaving the house in the morning. We woke them up early and made a quick change of plans. What would usually cause tantrums caused NONE!

We all had such a wonderful time worshiping God together with other people! The children were thrilled to sing with others, dance around and wave to friends. Our 5 year old was so excited he said "look daddy real drums not on tv!" Its been a long time since we've seen our children so happy to be worshiping in the presence of brothers and sisters face to face.  😁

We anticipated tantrums later in the day. That would have made sense due to being tired, or even simply all the excitement and then downswing of emotion after. But there were no tantrums. we had NONE! We had children in the best moods and best behavior! There is no other word to explain the day other than to say Euphoric.

We are so thrilled we were able to worship together and fulfill what God has called us to do. To gather together, to answer His Call to Worship and worship with voice, song and scripture our Almighty God. The virus is here and its not going away.  But our God is Bigger and no matter what comes in this world we will answer to Him.
