Reflecting on 2021
This past year the Lord has given me the opportunity to serve in a variety of settings. While each day presents new opportunities, challenges, temptations, and triumphs, the most consistent ways God has given me to serve is in the ministries of prayer, teaching, and preaching. This week I'm going to debrief a bit and share some thoughts looking back on the past year.
I'll debrief by discussing some of the sermon series I was privileged to preach during weekly Sunday worship. You can listen to many of these sermons and worship services on our church's Youtube page. As a preview here were the breakdown of sermons this year:
- The book of Esther (10 sermons)
- Holy Week as recorded by Matthew (4 sermons)
- A brief overview of the New Testament church in Acts (8 sermons)
- Common questions and topics in our congregation and community (4 sermons)
- A call to examine serving in the New Testament church based on 1 Peter (4 sermons)
- An overview of the Old Testament (7 sermons)
- Discovering who Jesus is in Mattew, Mark, Luke, and John (4 sermons)
Some of the "individual" topical sermons that were preached covered:
- 5 things a pastor is & 5 things a pastor is not
- Christ's enduring love for a church that was awful (1 Corinthians)
- What happens when we die and after death?
- How does the 2nd commandment inform our worship?
- The Significance of Christ's Ascension
- What does the Bible have to say about work?
- What the church is & what the church is not
In addition to preaching, I've also been allowed the opportunity to teach in the following areas:
- Study on the letter to Titus (5 week study)
- Study on the women named in the New Testament (7 week study)
- Bible Overview featuring one book each week (Currently on week 15, we've briefly examined the first 14 books of the New Testament so far).
